OK Ladies, the day finally came for the book binding class. I picked up my friend and away we went money in in hand though no supplies. We didn't get the supply list - wish we had, but we will know better for the next one we got to. Yes, it was fun and there will be a next one.

Paper to wrap the book covers in is what is really fun so ladies, keep your eyes sharp for great paper finds. The teacher brought her favorites which included paper from Italy, Nepal and Thailand. Mary, I bet you will be finding some great papers where you are going, so if not for yourself, pick some up for Kim and I.

The difficult task for me was cutting the "thick" book board with a slanted blade knife. I know
I'll get better at it, but that is my challenge. Maybe I start with thinner versions and work my way up. Stitching it all together went fast and really looked good when finished.

Today, I'm off to search out art supply stores and start having fun. I feel like "Temari" all over again.
I love this idea. It is very much like the hand made book you gave me, but that is covered in fabric. There you go, now a way to combine that love as well. The book you gave me also has a leather thong knotted onto one of the binding straps, so that you wrap it around the book and tie it closed. I really like that idea.
ReplyDeleteMary & I spotted some fabulous Italian paper at the shop off Thong Lo. I fell in love with it. I may have to get Roger to carry it back, so that you can make ME a book with it. I can't remember how much the paper costs. Let me know if you want me to go check out prices and designs. If you want, I could always get that, along with the other JJ paper and put it all in a cardboard tube for Roger (whose new name may have to be bag boy!).
Well Done!
