Yes, It's Spring!

I have finished my last confetti quilt for the class I will be teaching in April.  I had already put the pines in this one about six months ago but put it away as I didn't know how to finish it.  I didn't want to block the pines out and adding green trees was just to much green.  I'm pretty happy with the results.  It's 14" X 16".  Now to go clean all the lint out of my machine.

The Miata has been sitting in the garage most of the winter waiting as patiently as we have for Spring to arrive.  We took it over to the car wash the other day and now we are all ready to enjoy the season.

We celebrated Roger's birthday at a great Ethiopian restaurant Evan and Jason invited us to yesterday.  Apparently it's one of only two such restaurants in the valley but we certainly now know were to go when the mood strikes.

Mahatun Plaza

Here are a few photos from Mahatun Plaza of places that are new to me, if not Bangkok.

Some months back, Royal Porcelain, at the top of the plaza, turned into a trendy looking cafe.  I haven't eaten in there, but when I walk past it is often crowded with people eating sandwiches and Thai food.  I think they still sell porcelain, but from a small area at the back of the cafe.  This is high on my list of lunch time venues to try.

ASIATIQUE

We finally made it to Asiatique, after it has been open quite a few months.  Better late than never.
Based on the river and two stops past Saphan Taksin, Asiatique is open from the late afternoon on.  You can get there on the regular ferry, which necessitates a 5 minute walk from the pier through a temple complex (which is begging for financial donations for the cremations of unclaimed bodies).  There is also a dedicated (and free I think) shuttle ferry, which stops at Asiatique's own pier.

Last Ride of the Season:

Spring has come to the Salt Lake valley and we have already experienced temperatures reaching the low 70's.  With this in mind, we thought we should get up to the cabin one last time while we could ride the snow  mobile in.  Otherwise it would be walking until the gate opened and we could actually drive up to the cabin.

The Quilt is Finished!

The last of the five quilts has been finished!! And just in time.  As you can see above the first daffodils of the season are up and ready to pop (I took this photo at my Mom's home and from the looks of it, the weeding season has begun as well.)  Roger and I have been up on the mountain for a couple of short hikes in the perfect hiking weather, right around 58-60 degrees.  We've also walked around the yard to determine what needs to be done.  Looks as if I can leave my quilt cave and start living in the sun.
