Flood Preperations

In my part of town, we are all now braced for the flood.  I am still the lone voice saying it won't come, but as I have said before, that is probably more wishful thinking than anything else.

These are some photos I took walking from our soi up to Asoke and back this morning.
This is a relatively new shop.

You can see they started with the wooden barrier, but as fears climb, so have the height of the breeze block barriers.
 Look at Ming's!
This is the brand new condo just before you get to Emporium.  It isn't even occupied yet.
For some days now, the access to the underground parking has been closed off at Emporium.
 Taken from the skytrain walkway.
Up past Emporium. this barrier is wood with a concrete wash.
At least they have provided a proper step, but it is still not something I'd want to scramble over.
Next to the Dubliner pub (left of picture).  They are still building this barrier.
 Villa opposite Emporium!
It must have been built last night.

At our place they are still building the barrier.  Smacks a bit of last moment, with high tide due in this afternoon.  I can hear the handyman hammering away downstairs.
Our handyman has obviously delegated, and is taking a cigarette break.  We rarely see him standing up during the day, he usually sits on a bench picking his toes in the car park!
I'm not sure what all the metal is about.  I just hope Alan can get back in tonight.

The next pictures are from Sue Hammond, who lives on the opposite side of the river, and opposite the Royal Palace.  The flood has already reached her area, which isn't surprising considering their location.

I'll continue to post any pictures I get, electricity allowing.
