New Year's in Utah

We decided to not spend New Year's Eve at the cabin, "due to my not wanting to deal with the cold", but to visit on New Year's day.  This also allowed us to get out of the inversion in the valley and see some blue sky and breath some clean crisp air.

A "selfie" taken from a warm car while Roger did the work of getting the snowmobile out of the garage.  The U.S. has been getting hit hard with record setting cold this year and I am grateful that I am out West right now and not experiencing the extreme cold of the Northeast.  Yes, Kim, do think of us as you and Alan sit on the beach in Thailand enjoying the sights!

We took a snow mobile ride around the area before heading back down into the haze of the valley.  Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

The ski pass that Roger purchased for skiing this year was a great deal but included blocked out selected holidays, so after a few days of being basically house bound we decided a drive out to Antelope Island would help.

We met a few people doing exactly what we were doing: enjoying the view.  One stalwart person or couple were actually camping on the island, though they may have been frozen stiff inside their tent.  We weren't going to check on them.

The beach covered with snow.

This is the south end of the island looking out from the ranch.

Another sunset from our back door.

  1. Oh how beautiful it looks in the snow. St first I didn't realise it was snow on the beach on Antelope Island, it really looks like sand. I'm not sure about the camping!
