We are two women (The Coven) who met in Bangkok. We share a love of adventure (in varying degrees), photography (very amateur but who cares?), creating (in different fields), oh yes, and eating (in abundance). Mostly, we just have fun! Now we have moved on to different places, but intend to keep our spirit alive.

Design Wall
I have always loved my new quilt room filled with supplies, quilts and treasures. The one thing I was missing was room for a design wall. With Christmas put away, it was time to tackle this problem. Going to the family room and sorting squares on the floor was not working anymore for my knee and back. The only space available in my room itself was over the shuttered window. I decided that space was doable as the "wall" could be removed and rolled up for storage when not in use. In this way the window was not lost entirely. I found an old quilt which conveniently already had a sleeve sewn on the back. Roger got the rod and some hardware at Home Depot and in no time it was up and in use. While I could have used the back of the quilt, I pinned some batting to it to make it a bit more versatile. I'm now encouraged to finish the above throw quilt.

What a great idea, I never thought of using an old quilt to make a design wall, though my problem is that they are usually too densely quilted to get a pin through them! I like the idea of how easily removable a quilt is, from the rod.
ReplyDeleteIs that a Cathedral Windows quilt (she asks in the vague hope she has the right block)? Can we see it please, now that it is completed. Looking good so far.
