The first snowfall of 2013 reached 33 inches on the back lawn. It snowed for three days straight. School was canceled one day due to the accumulations but even with that, few kids were out making snowmen or going sledding - too COLD!
We occasionally got the beautiful blue skies which made the hills look breathtaking. But while we had blue skies once in awhile, our great claim to fame came when Salt Lake made the national news as having the worst air quality in the nation - so proud! The sun below was a bright red going down through the haze.
Then came the ice storm, something not normally seen around here. The weatherman (meteorologist) noted that we've only had 10 such storms since the 40's. While we were used to them in Texas and Kansas while we lived there, here it sent cars and kids sliding. Over 100 accidents in Salt Lake.
Then came the fog. We couldn't see the roofs on the houses behind us let
alone all the way to Antelope Island. Another reason to stay indoors.
And more snow! It started yesterday and continued throughout the night. Here is Allison dropping off Livi for the day while she, Rob and Ana get away to a ski resort for fun and some SUN. The good thing about this storm was that it was supposed to clean out the air. So far it doesn't look as if that has happened. The inversion is becoming quite the fixture for a Utah winter.
While the snow is beautiful - I'm ready for Spring to come. That's me, always wishing for the next best thing. I think it's time to go to the cabin for a few days and hibernate up there where there are actual blue skies.
Wow, I cannot believe it is the same place we visited! I don't know how you do this year after year. I'd pull my duvet over my head and hibernate until late spring!
ReplyDeleteThe brush photo, once you enlarge it, is really funny. Even the foam has iced onto the wall. How amazing!
