For some reason, I ended up with a lot of animal photos from our Indian Holiday.

Our driver stopped at this spot to explain to us that the locals put out food here, for the animals. If we hadn't been so indolent and greedy, stuffing our faces with breakfast, we would have seen a lot more animals eating their meals.
If you closely at this picture, there are a couple of cows, a crow on the cow's back and a monkey, all helping themselves to a meal.

Just along the wall from them were these noisy green parrots, that we saw everywhere and looked adorable. Oh come on, look at those little green heads!

Now I have never understood anyones interest in pigeons. As far as I am concerned they are nasty, dirty vermin, but please, don't let me put you off them if you love them. I was amazed to see the large swarms of pigeons everywhere we went,
and being fed by people buying food for them from roadside vendors. Actually is it swarms of pigeons? A mess of pigeons would be more apt. Anyway, they were all over the beautiful buildings, crapping on everything. Ugh!

Chipmunks were also pretty abundant. At least I think they are chipmunks, the locals called them squirrels. This couple sat to eat their lunch and foolishly (in my oh so humble opinion) shared a few bits of bread. The next thing they knew, the chipmunks were all around them. I watched one run up the man's leg and you can see one on the woman's shoe. The best bit was when one managed to get on the seat behind them and tried to climb on the woman. Boy did she shriek!

Now you can say what you like about india, but there is one thing they do really well, and that is dress their animals. Let's face it, anyone can dress their dog up in a cute outfit, but how many people do you know who dress up their camels?

And I bet there aren't too many farmers who dress their cows for a day's work.
But without a doubt, my favourites were the dressed goats! These snappy little future dinners, were wearing tee-shirts!

This wasn't a one off either, we saw them everywhere. This young goat about town, was just wondering along the road, looking for all the world like he was 'hot' (which no doubt he soon would be, in a mutton curry!).
I spotted these two in the grounds of a mosque. Red really is the little one's colour, don't you think?!
Kim, Great post. It brought back so many memories of my tour there. Difference being that most of my photos of animals on the street were taken from the van on the go. Your way is so much better. Janice
