Roger's Father's Day Gift:

Here is the newest member of our family.  My Featherweight Singer Sewing Machine.  It's a lot more than just cute.  It runs beautifully and will be used to piece quilts requiring "Y" points, though looking at the little booklet that came with it, it does a lot more than a straight stitch.  Mostly, I've got to admit - it's really just plain cute.

I've been looking around for one for awhile, thinking that I could land the ultimate deal - $25 and in pristine condition.  I quickly found out that was not going to happen.  Not only are they getting scarce but also more costly.  As I have a new Bernina in my quilt room, I was OK with that.

Well, Roger told me to watch out for a package as he had ordered himself a Father's Day gift.  No big deal.  We buy our own gifts quite a lot around here.  Well the package arrived yesterday and out came an old, battered black case and out of that came my beautiful featherweight.  Yea, I love my husband for a lot of reasons, but right now the very fact that he thought of doing that, is at the top of the list.

I have finished my first quilt in my long line of projects and this isn't even my project.  Ana's other grandmother wanted to make her a quilt and I volunteered to quilt it for her.  I think the pattern (bowtie in a snowball pattern) really turned out cute and perfect for an eight year old girl.  So it is now finished and ready to be returned to her for the binding.

Hopefully, I'll get a few of my finished quilts up on the Blog before the end of the summer.

  1. Roger has certainly earned a 'get out of jail free' card hasn't he? I am just wondering how he plans to use it?!

What a lovely quilt, and what a great idea for both grandma's to work on a gift, Ana is going to love it I am sure.
