As usual there is a ton of building work going on in Bangkok and here are a few projects that are new to you. This building site is opposite Paragon, where the cinema was burned down during the troubles. I don't know yet what this is going to be, but I would put money on a shopping mall given the location. It is obviously going to be higher than the building that used to be there.

I bet you can't guess where this is. It is just along he road from Emporium, on the even side, where the Dubliner pub, the Calypso Club and Bourbon Street were located. Rumor has it that this is probably another Central shopping mall. If true, this area is set to be another Siam area, as there is also a new mall being built opposite Emporium, which I have heard referred to as Emporium 2. If those aren't enough new malls for you, Central has reapplied to build a mall on the site of the old night market.
Wouldn't it be nice if just one of these new malls, had some different shops for a change? But no, I'm sure that they will be exactly the same shops as in all the other malls dotting the Bangkok Landscape.

On a different subject, during the week I witnessed the cutting of what was obviously a prime tuna, in Emporium. There was a collection of people, most of whom I think were Japanese, complete with cameras witnessing this tuna being cut into large chunks. I suppose the meat was destined to become sushi.
In addition There was also this handsome fellow on display. I have no idea what sort of fish he is, but he was pretty big and if you look at his face, he certainly looked happy enough to be on public display. Don't you think he looks like he is laughing?
Kim, Thanks for the photos of my favorite city. That strip was already overbuilt with malls - but then if someone is making money, it's all worthwhile, right? I can't believe that you took photos of the fish and just didn't turn and run away. Next, you'll actually be seen eating one. Janice
