The Magic Ruler:

I am a blog stalker, and proud of it!!  During one of my stalking sessions, I saw the quilt below and thought it made a darling baby quilt.  I had received some fabric from my quilt group to make quilts for sale this December at the annual Festival of Trees and thought that this one would be a good choice.  Festival of Trees is a great charity which contributes all proceeds (I really hope it's all) from the sale of donated decorated Christmas trees as well as donated items in it's gift store to Primary Children's Medical Center here in SL.  The hospital is non profit and provides important and life saving  services to children throughout the intermountain region.

I followed links to the designer and then to her book which I sent away for.  The numerous quilt options all centered around half square triangles but, of course,  also suggested that the above ruler would be just the tool to use.  I generally stay away from "gimmicks", but thought this might in reality be a good investment and used in the future.  Kim heard my frustration as I waited and waited for the ruler to arrive so once it got here and I got busy with the quilts, I needed to show her what all the fuss was about.

Of course, these squares could have been made using a regular ruler, but this one was,
in fact, quicker and handier to us.  It now joins my "scores" of other rulers (not really that many Roger) on my shelf waiting for the next quilt project.

Once these are quilted I can return to working down my own stash - which somehow
has not seemed to get any smaller.
