Our home is a great destination spot for our five grandchildren and we often meet them at the park across the street from us, in the back yard for trampoline time or for the most part on the front drive way with the grandkids turning it into a canvas for their chalk and water art. We adults pull up our lawn chairs, grab our beverage of choice, gossip, solve the world's problems and simply enjoy an amazing Utah evening.
Who says you can't multitask. With popsicle in hand, Racquel (Pokie) demonstrates her water painting technique.
When it's time to clean up and head home, the neighbor's dog helpfully empties the water bowl.
The Spring lasted a bit longer than normal here and the canyons and area around the cabin are a testament to that.
Green, lush and beautiful. It won't stay that way for long, but it's been a delight to head up whenever we get a chance.
Last weekend, while Rob and Allison ran a half marathon, we took the girls up to the cabin for a sleep over. Of course, the four wheeler (which Livi now thinks she can drive on her own!) was the hit, we also managed to get in a session of Chinese checkers.
In the heat of the day, you can usually find me down in the "quilt cave" working off my list of quilts I want to be made this summer. The idea was to work down my stash. Have I stopped buying? No! You go to find a filler piece, and come home with $60 worth of new fabric (Would you believe a sale? No? Roger didn't either.)None are quilted yet, but Kim has wanted to see them, so.... The blue one is made from indigo fabrics I purchased in Tokyo a few years back.
Then I saw a chevron quilt pattern on a blog and thought, oh how charming, I could do that with all my left overs. Don't do it! This is the quilt, small as it is, that I almost shot myself over. Black
binding and it will turn into a kid's quilt.
Hexagons are coming back in style in a big way here, and I couldn't resist. I've saved this fabric forever and once quilted, it will look good on the bed in my "Asian" room.
1950 Chevy truck at a car lot up north. It is now sitting in our garage waiting for a new muffler which will be put on next week. The grandkids all want a ride, but first we must get seat belts installed. Are you getting the picture here? Roger loves it and it will keep him busy for many years to come. So, really a gift to both of us!
Pokie can multi task in a big way, she also managed to co-ordinate her lolly (that's popsicle to you) with her jeggins! The kids all look great.
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are beautiful. No surprise to you that the indigo one would be something I like, but next time you post it, can you try and get clearer pics of the fabric patterns?
I took one look at the chevron and thought, what were you thinking??? Are you not cross eyed trying to make that by now? It is worth it when it is finished, I just don't think I would have ever been inspired enough to line that all up!
The hexagon quilt is lovely and straight away it made me think of those molecule models you see.
I can't wait to see how you quilt these. I bet you are glad you took up machine quilting.
