Kim's Got Me Beat, But.....

OK, I must admit that I haven't seen any outdoor Christmas displays going up around town, but by the looks of Target (above), Home Depot and JoAnn's, (below) Christmas is right around the corner - like next week!

While Halloween is definitely still the winner, for the time being, poor Thanksgiving is taking a poor third if what I saw in Target is any kind of example.  I did see some felt Turkey hats in the dollar bin there, so maybe there is till hope.

OK, now on to one of my favorite things to do:  documenting Fall via my camera.  We made it up to the cabin while the aspens were still showing their color and noted that winter was quickly creeping in.

The two bottom photos are of the trees around our home in Farmington.  The first is looking up on the hillside that is covered in oak brush.  I know I lamented the lack of color this year, but I spoke too soon.  While a bit muted,  we have had some beautiful color in the canyons, hillsides and even right across the street.

Kim knows that I am going to be in charge of my quilt group this coming year, and stupidly creatively came up with an idea for notebooks for everyone each month.  Since there are roughly 30 people in the group and there are 12 months in the year - hum, that means 360 books to be made.
Well I have finished 300!  Only sixty more to go.

I have two ladies helping me this year and I decided to share the creative (?) load and we are each taking ten paper books and adding cloth book covers to them.  These are the three I've done so far, and I think I may end up doing more than ten.  They are turning out pretty good I think.

And one last thing which I couldn't resist including.  We had Olivia over for the afternoon when Allison had to work.  It was her dance lesson day and so we had the drop off - pick up assignment.  Allison had made a map for us which Olivia insisted she use, from the back seat, to direct us.  Gratefully, we had done this before and knew where to go, because cute little Livi's directions left a few things out and added even more.

  2. It looks like the US leaves Thailand in the dust when it comes to the Christmas goodies. I haven't seen any of those yet, but there again, I haven't been looking. You can however, find some Halloween things knocking around. Maybe I should get my witch out (er, the doll, not my bad side!).

The fall colours look wonderful, it must be lovely to be up at the cabin at this time of year.

I see Livi is still into pink in a big way. I am not sure I have ever seen her dressed in another colour! Cute.
