This morning we woke up to snow! After a record breaking dry December, snow was unexpected but welcomed. Everyone, including Roger, quickly got out the snow blowers which had been languishing in garages to remove the 4-6 inches of snow on the driveway and walk areas. Roger had planned to drive up the mountain today for another pile of rock for our garden areas, but decided to forgo that task for a few days or even months if, hopefully, the snow is now here to stay.

Mid morning we set out to take a few pictures and enjoy a walk in the snow. We ended up at Farmington Pond, an area north of our home where you can picnic and teach the kids how to fish. The geese and ducks seemed unperturbed by the snow and cold.

This barn is on Main Street, just before you turn up to our home. I love the look of it and couldn't resist a photo of it covered in snow.

By 1:00 o'clock we were ready to meet up with the Daniel, Grace, Allison and Rob along with the grand kids who had decided to try out their new sleds and snowboard on the hill behind the local elementary school. Ethan, in front on the snowboard, lined up with all the other kids who showed up to take advantage of the snow. It didn't take long for the grass to show through the snow, but that didn't stop anyone from having fun.

Allison, Ana and Livi..

Ingrid, Raquel (Pokie) and Grace...

What goes down, must come up.

Ethan, our fearless snowboarder.

This snow was pretty wet and with the sun out, by mid afternoon it had already melted off the roads and sidewalks. I needed it to remind me that it was actually Winter here, but all the same I will be very happy to leave it behind as I fly off to Bangkok on Thursday. Next blog from the Kingdom of Thailand.
