Playing the guitar, Javan style!

Has anyone else noticed how ukeleles have suddenly become popular?  Well I have.  Both the big bookshops here have those teach yourself books, and there are plenty of those silly excuses for a guitar to be found in shop windows if you look.  Why?  Have you ever heard anyone say that their life's ambition is to become a ukulele player?

Whilst in Jakarta, I noticed that guitars abounded (both the big and the ridiculously small variety).  I probably saw four a day.  People either walking along the road carrying them or sitting somewhere strumming.

On one of my walks around Jakarta, I came across this guy.  He immediately posed as soon as he saw my camera, and I even got a small bit of film of him playing and his mate doing the finger clicking behind him.  Oh well, we all had a terrific laugh about it.

Meanwhile, back home on the range...

My bathroom ceiling sprung a leak yesterday, a slow drip from the ceiling vent.  They told me they would have to take down the ceiling.  This has thankfully turned into, cut a small hole where the leak from above is located.  All fine and dandy.  But surely I ask myself naively, they are going to make good the patch that is now in place?  It is sorely in need of some smoothing over.  Also, I hesitate to say it, but there is another wet patch now.  Is this just some left over water in the cavity, or has the leak not been fixed and has it in fact become much bigger?  Groan!  Watch this space.

I am now off to bed before my beloved comes to tell me off.
