Art Classes

I am so lucky to have talented friends, and Sue is an example of not just talented, but generous with her time too.

Sue is a professional painter, but she hasn't painted for many years for various reasons.  This year she became inspired to take it up again (I think my whining about wanting some lessons may have played a small part).

Renewing her passion for painting, has also meant plenty of shopping excursions looking for supplies.  This included carrying a wooden easel between us, back and forth through Central World (so I earned at least one of my classes), when it became evident that a taxi wasn't going to take her and her easel home.

With Friends Like These

This is what just popped into my inbox from Mary.  No not into my real, sitting on my desk, lean over and rifle through the contents box, but my virtual one.

And even in the virtual inbox, I could smell that chocolate.  Ooohhhh  mmmummm OMG!!!!!

Mary obviously thinks she has a great sense of humour, though I did not find it funny.  Just cruel.  She likes to make me sweat, by sending me Godiva pictures (and it works).  I call it cruel and unusual punishment!

Thank goodness I got a little goodie bag (actually a rather large one) of Godiva supplies when Iris came back form the US.  Luckily (and not to mention surprisingly), there are still some bars left.

Oh yes, and the box of Godiva from The Lads at Songkran (all long gone sadly).

One day, when I am rich, I shall move into a Godiva shop and eat their most wonderful of goodies, morning, noon and night (and all the hours in-between).  Throw in a Diet Coke machine, oh and of course a cinema popcorn machine, and my life will be one of bliss.   Put Pride and Prejudice (the BBC Colin Firth version of course) on a big screen tv.  Sit in one of those lovely reclining seats.  Have a Thai foot massage at the same time and...

April Showers:

April is always unpredictable in Utah.  Last year it was hot, hot, hot by the end of April.  This year we have had ups and downs - rain, snow, winds, you name it.  We (Roger) have done some yardwork and gone on a few hikes, but basically it's been stay in the house or do family things.

IS IT THAT TIME OF YEAR ALREADY?

I had a bit of a shock last week, Christmas had arrived at Central World.  I have heard of shopping early for Christmas, but this is ridiculous.  I have no idea why the tree was there, but I hope to goodness Santa knows he is on call!

While I'm At It:

It was a year ago that Roger and I went to Istanbul Turkey for a working (Roger) vacation (me).  We loved everything about it and I would go again in a heartbeat.  While there I fell in love with the bright tiles found everywhere.  I picked up these eight before we left, knowing they would add a bit of weight to our bags but not wanting to loose the chance to get them.

I tried to think of ways I could display them and not just hide them away in a drawer.  Trays seemed to be the way to do it and with a talented husband around, I explained what I wanted.  Within a week, the trays were finished, painted and stained, tiles placed and out on display.

Thanks again.

Taking Care of The Chickens

Daniel, Grace and the grandkids (Ethan, Ingrid and Poky) have just returned from a fantastic vacation and family reunion in the Philippines.  Grace had not been back for a number of years and so obviously this was the grandkids first exposure to where their mother was born and raised for the first eight years of her life.  They loved seeing new things and playing with new found cousins.  While they were gone, Roger was asked to tend to the "farm" needs back home.

A Spring Trip to Antelope Island

This week is spring break for the school districts around Utah so while Daniel and Grace have their kids in the Philippines for a family reunion, we thought a day out with Ana and Livi was in order.  The best time to visit Antelope Island, situated in the Great Salt Lake, is either in the spring, before the bugs hatch or in the fall when they have disappeared.   The grandkids hadn't been there before so we gathered the normal picnic fare, hiking shoes and cameras and off we went.
