go back up to see the colors as the aspens around the cabin were turning their fall color of bright yellow and were truly amazing. He also suggested that we drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon and over the mountain to Park City to see what the foliage was like there. Sometimes it's a matter of just dropping everything and going, because if you wait one day too long, the colors will be gone.
That morning we woke up to low hanging clouds along the foothills by our home and reports that rain was likely in the valley with a chance of snow on the tops of the mountains.
Over the years this canyon has been a favorite for our family. Many happy days have been spent rock climbing, rappelling, hiking and skiing on it's varied terrain. The upper canyon is glacier cut while the lower canyon is stream cut, leaving rugged cliffs and slopes as a backdrop for this year's spectacular fall foliage.

I-40 towards our cabin.
It was still overcast when we reached the cabin and it rained most of the night. I love hearing the rain on a metal roof - a wonderful way to go to sleep.
Tomorrow, Kim and Alan return from their Southern Utah holiday. If Kim is up for it, I think I will take her to Mueller Park as well for one last walk in Utah.
They leave on Saturday to return to Bangkok. I hope that they have had as much fun seeing the West as I have had hosting them.
You are so lucky have the cabin in such a beautiful spot. I can't wait to see the pictures through the year as the foliage and the weather changes.
