Last Days in Thailand

With Kim and Alan heading off on their holiday, I have been left to finish up our Chiang Mai blog. Just a few items left and I have to leave Thailand behind. As I doubt I will be back, at least in the near future, it's been fun reliving my trip through the blog entries. Thanks Kim for all you did it make it memorable.
After we left Susan's home and almost right around the corner, we came across the parade for the Umbrella Festival held every year during the end of January. Now that was timing! Thai dancers with their long fingernails, floats and beauty queens greeted us. Poor Khun Chiaya did not get an early end to his day.

Sunday, we were on our own and decided to make the day slow and easy. That meant a few more Wats and shopping!!! I think I could probably open a paper store here with all I brought home with me. As the day was turning out a bit warmer than we had anticipated, we thought a two hour boat ride on the Ping River would round out our trip up country quite well. The water was smooth and with the exception of one other lady, we had the boat to ourselves.

Back home in Bangkok on Monday and the last few days were filled with shopping, foot massages, lunches at our favorite restaurants and a final trip to China Town. I left with more packages and the suggestion by Kim that I buy a piece of luggage to cart everything home in. Amazingly, all fit in the luggage I brought, including the Minni Mouse ears I purchased for Ana and Livi who were leaving on a Disney Cruise soon after I returned home. You can find anything and everything in China
Town!
Without Boonchi, we had to find other resources for travel. We caught the train down to the river and hopped aboard the next boat available to take us to and from the market. While waiting for the boat to take us back to the train, we were caught in an early rain storm (rainy season usually doesn't start until June or July). As we were able to stay dry, I loved every minute of it.

Last day in Bangkok and we ended my stay with lunch, courtesy of Mary's 50% off coupon, at the Plaza Athena. We stayed for nearly three hours and enjoyed every minute, texting Alan with photos of each course and each dessert. As he stopped responding to us I don't think he appreciated it very much.
Now back to reality!!!!
