MYANMAR PART III - YANGON

Black and red stained teeth on both young and old, testifies to the continuing popularity of betel.

It was interesting to see these phone booths.
I don't blame him, I'd rather have snoozed than peddled people around in the hot sun.
 Buddhist nuns.
I refused to go over to look at this Hindu temple.  There were so many pigeons on the phone lines, the street and the roof, to not get hit by a flying missile would have been impossible.
 I loved these sewing machines.
It really makes you think how boring sewing machines now look by comparison.
A thread and notions shop.
Do you think she is looking for her chicks at KFC?
This was a great idea.  The apartments had string with carrier bags or bulldog clips attached, that connected to the windows, so that small goods could be hauled up instead of walking down to collect them.
 A bit of remoddling.
We visited the famous Shwedagon Paya late afternoon, when the mellow sun glinted softly against all the gold.
 An ATM.
Oh and a bit of product placement too!

 Please go this way.
No you really need to go the other way.
 Ornate water pots.
It looked so beautiful as the sun began to set.
 Finally the sun set...
and the magic spread out all around us.
Stunning.
