Tis The Season:

The Christmas Season is here and with just a week to go, I am finally getting into the spirit of things.  Last night, following Ana's Christmas recital program we drove to the local park to take pictures.   I wanted to roll down the window, but Roger insisted that I actually do the work of getting out of the car and into the cold.

Our home is decorated with white lights that Roger strung before the snow hit.  We had a tree close to the front entrance that we used to decorate with colored lights as well, but last year the deer decided that tree was just right for their morning breakfast and by spring it really had to go.

We had the grand kids over (in shifts) to decorate gingerbread houses.  A new grandma/grandpa tradition which I think we will keep.  The kids really had a great time and their artistic sides really came out.  Very serious decorating going on.

 Smiles all around.

Christmas brings the special Christmas programs as well.  Here is Livi, second from left, shaking her hips in her dance recital.  They hold these twice a year and rent out the high school auditorium for the event.  As the groups get bigger, the auditorium is packed.  My hat is off to these little ones who show no fear.

Last night was Ana's recital.  We joined Ana, Allison and Livi at the local library for the event.

A grandmother's pride! She did so well.

We are experiencing the normal winter inversions here.  The air is terrible and between the smog and fog, at times it is difficult to see 50 feet in front of you.   I caught an amazing sun hanging above the mountains on my way to visit my Mom in Salt Lake.  Sitting at the light, I pulled out the camera and got a great shot.

A full sun set through the haze is often spectacular as well.  Love that we face west and can get them all year round.

Ok, I debated whether to add this last one or not.  After two days of sorting fabric Roger took this picture, probably trying to shame me.  It didn't work!  I'm at the end of a block of sewing projects and trying to decide what fabric I have to start what new projects.  Roger asked how many thousands of $ worth of fabric I had on the floor.  My response was one of total innocence.

  1. Wow, it sure looks like Christmas in your neck of the woods. Times Square is just putting up its tree today, a tad late I think with a week to go until Christmas.

The gingerbread houses look like great fun. Pokey looks like she is about to eat it.

Tell the girls well done on their recitals.

Tell yourself shame on that room!!! Ha ha, I can't wait for Alan to see that mess. I can hear the conversation now, 'if you think I have a lot of fabric, then look at this'.
