Oh good grief! I take a few weeks off the blog to move, tend the sick and do a quilt class and what do I get?
Moan, moan, moan!
When are you getting back on the blog? It's your turn now! What's happened to Nora?
In order to stop this barrage, I have been forced to post an entry
| My studio |
So the dreaded day arrived to pack us up. Some of you are very familiar with this room. This looks down to where my tables were set up.
It looks so sad. I remember all the fun times we had in this room. Janice, remember the fabric painting? I don't know how many Temari Balls were rolled in here, but I can tell you now, it was a lot!
I love the way they have taped up the sofa. It looks like a badly wrapped birthday present.
I think Alan wanted you to think he did the packing!
They actually managed to get the bulk of the packing done on the first day. I think we had about 9 packers in total. They were really nifty and soon had masses done. We realised we could move the arrangements up a day, so our plans went out the window, as we frantically scrambled to get everything agreed.
They were so neat with all the packages. It is a good job the apartment was so large, it gave them plenty of room to just pile things up. I think they got fed up with me, hands on as ever, running around checking what they were doing.
Funnily enough, three of the people on this move, including the supervisor, were the people that unpacked us when we arrived in Ming House. The poor men had witnessed how many times I made the Ming House staff walk up and down flights of stairs carrying sofas, as first I said I didn't want any of their furniture, and then when I realised that my three sofa's were not going to fill the cavern, I made them carry them all back up. Really, they should have had a larger lift! Do you know we ended up with 10 sofas in that apartment?! Anyway, they must have been dreading what would happen at the other end.
So goodbye Ming House and Hallo Sriratana Mansions.
I haven't had time to take photos except on the night we celebrated moving in. Unfortunately, most are blurred. Well I did partake in a glass or two. Pictures soon I promise Janice!
The Usual Suspects enjoying pre-dinner drinks on the balcony.
Baz and Mark sitting at our bar. Baz obviously felt uncomfortable on the customer side of the bar, as he kept trying to take our orders!
Craig & I decided to play at being the pub landlords. I still can't quite believe we have this big bar in our home. We'll never get rid of this lot now!
Having worked in a pub as a student, Craig took to the bar work like a duck to water. Certainly it was a mistake to let this lot loose at the bar. I finally shook them all out about 3.30am I think, all of them rolling drunk. Baz took a packing box with him, Craig was so drunk I doubt he even knew he was alive and Mark managed to carry a certain veneer of sobriety, except when he had to remember anything!
As for Mr. Raybould, he was finally sent to bed, after he played chase around the sofa with me after everyone had left, in order to avoid being frog marched to bed (which he was anyway!).
Now you would think that any sensible people would at this point just go to bed.
Sensible?
That lot?
They carried on drinking at the lads place until about 5.30am!
Of course I should have learned my lesson with this lot. I was once forced to post notices on the front door and in the guest toilet, telling them that leaving time was 1am and no later! Looks like I'll have to get a new notice made up and laminated for when they come over again. Best get a till too!
You know, I have only been a bar owner for a short while, but I have already realised that there is nothing quite like getting rid of all your customers, so that you can enjoy the bar, all by yourself.
Cheers!
