A Busy Few Days

Wow!  I don't know about you, but the last few days have been busy, busy, busy.
Sue Hammond took me to a Chinese restaurant opposite Democracy Monument, called Maria's.  The food was really good, especially the spinach dim sum.  Janice, I had a delicious chicken and cashew nuts also, which made me think of you! Er, I'm not suggesting you look like a chicken.

For those of you who haven't heard our tail of woe.  Sue and I left the restaurant and stood outside to talk.  A bird chose that moment to empty its bowels into my hair, down my face, and onto both mine and Sue's arm.  Maybe, given what appeared to be the sheer amount of it, we were under a bird toilet (well, you have bird baths, don't you?), whatever it was, it was truly disgusting.

We went back into the restaurant, with Sue flapping her arms and pointing in the air, before she sprinted off to the loo to wash it off.  I tried to get there at a more dignified pace, but given that I was covered in bird pooh, I doubt there really was much dignity involved!  When we exited the loos, there were a few people looking at us.  I told Sue they probably thought she had a very urgent need for the toilet!
Yesterday, from early in the morning, I was deafened by marshal music, loud speakers and cheering.  It was 'Clean Up Soi 12 Day'.  I think most of BKK's police, were standing around on our soi, but none appeared to be working. Residents and I suppose stall holders, actually scrubbed the soi with soap.  I would have been down there of course, but er, my broom wasn't available!
They even refreshed the stripes on the corner of the road.  Look, no spillage either!
Incidentally, this is the back view of our condo, as seen from Sukhumvit.
Yesterday evening, we went with Baz to Chokchai, which he loves.  He usually takes a THB700 each way taxi ride, to the branch he prefers, but we managed to reign in his excesses, with a visit to the local branch.  Chokchai produces a lot of milk products including ice cream (the Ummh brand you see in Emporium), and raises cattle for beef.  The restaurant therefore has a western theme!

Sorry about the picture, but I couldn't stop Baz talking long enough, to get him to keep still!
He and Alan ate these disgusting hunks of T-bone.  Yuk!  Alan said it tasted great.  I had chicken, which was also good.

Chokchai also runs camping trips on its farm.  By the end of the meal, Alan and Baz were planning a trip.  I ask you, camping?  Moi?
