9/11

I wasn't going to mention 9/11 in this blog and I must admit I purposely didn't read the articles in magazines or newspapers, watch the movies or documentaries, or go to the ceremonies honoring the dead on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. What happened since 9/11 world wide is open to discussion on both sides, but what happened on that day will live with me forever. I remember watching the T.V. in shock as the second plane crashed into one of the towers and seeing the horror in the eyes of survivors and witnesses as the count went higher until nearly 3,000 innocent people were pronounced dead.
I should correct myself because when my daughter called to say they were going to Sandy City to walk through the acres of flags that had been erected to commemorate the people who had died, I said I wanted to go as well. To each flag was attached a name and history of one person who died that day. The stories broke my heart. From a four year old grand daughter on a flight home, to an office worker on the 80th floor, all who would have been alive today, should have been alive today. I have no arguments pro or con. I only have a hope and desire for tolerance and peace.

  1. This sounds like such a moving memorial. I know when I visited a quilt show the year after 9/11, I cried when I saw the quilts, like you, I found them heartbreaking. They were so moving.
