BANGKOK PROTEST - BANGKOK SHUT DOWN

The stage at Asoke was dismantled last night.  We walked through after 3am to find that although you couldn't drive through the site, the stage, big screens, tents etc had all gone.  There were a few forlorn people sitting around and a lot of rubbish too, though the garbage trucks were out and about clearing as much as they could.

Today, as you can see, there is very little sign that this has been closed off for weeks.  All the rubbish is gone, along with every sign that the protestors were here.  They have kept Asoke. leading up to Petchaburi closed as they appeared to be hosing down the streets still.

The traffic lights were also out, so the police were out directing traffic.
Places like Times Square and Citibank had cleaners outside, scrubbing their forecourt areas.
I'm still scratching my head wondering what was achieved by it all and wondering what next?

  1. I went to the past posts to view the protest over time and I, too, scratch my head and wonder what it was all about. I understand that, however, they are moving to strengthen their position at Lumpini Park. I guess there will be more to see.
