What's Up in Utah?

 With Roger on the river this week with our son Evan, it was time to get up
to the cabin and make sure it's in good shape for, as Roger terms them,  my VIP ladies who are due in the 1st of September.   I've been worried about the heat and the air quality as this has been a summer of fires around the West, record heat and NO rain, but the nights are getting cooler and the air is clearing out so all is good.  The heat and drought has also caused the leaves to change color early this year, so on the good side, Mary and Kim will be seeing the color of fall, just not in the vibrancy of last year. 

With Rob working nights this week, Allison and the girls decided to come up to the cabin as well to get out of the heat of the valley and relax a bit with grandma.  Though I didn't get much done while they were there, we all had a wonderful time playing games on the iPad (thanks Livi for teaching me all your fun games), watching cartoons on the TV (thanks Roger for getting us hooked up via our phone line), napping and simply have a great relaxing couple of days.





 Before they left on Saturday, we walked down to see the horses that are kept in the large common area.  We hadn't brought any carrots, but the grass outside the pasture was just fine for them as they waited anxiously for each offering.

During the summer I have been encouraging Ethan and Ana to continue their reading by offering them up to $5.00 for each book they finish.  Ana had read two small books to end her summer reading for me for which I owed her $4.00.  As I only had a $5.00 bill in my bag, it was decided if she did some chores she could earn the extra $1.00.  She happily agreed (at least without too much grumbling) and went off to vacuum the back bedrooms, sweep the kitchen floor and do some dusting.  Job well done!.

 We have really missed not having the cabin to run to all the years we spent in Thailand and now that we
are back home for good, have a new deck, a few new pieces of furniture including a TV in the back bedroom, and most importantly, TIME, we will be enjoying the cabin more and more.

 So Kim and Mary, the bedrooms are ready, the kitchen is clean and the living room straightened.
