Quilts, Fabric and Food

Okay, I have finally finished my sofa quilt, and here it is.  Now don't laugh but I have named it  (well only in my head), When Kaffe and Chris meet Kim at Central.  Yes, well I was never one for being pithy!

The back is solid pink.  Well, I bet you are somewhat surprised to see me make a quilt like this, though not as much as I am!  I have put more about it on my own blog, more of which later.

This is the fabric section at Central Chitlom.  Chris is choosing some fabric for an Amy Butler bag she wants to make for her daughter.    We were looking to match green and yellow, but ended up with a great orange/pink selection.  Really vibrant.

This is Chris' system for choosing fabric.  Put your hand on it, smile and feel the love.  If you can feel it, you should buy it.  Uri Geller taught her at a seminar she attended, ha ha!
Incidentally, if you go to Amy's website and click free patterns, you may find something you like.

This is Central's new fabric.  They have another bit like this too.  So, not a huge supply, but all very jazzy.  Lots of Rowan fabric and even Mr. Fassett himself has some fabric there!
The green and yellow were the first choices, but we couldn't find something to really 'pop' against them.  We went with the upper two and one more.  I'll ask Chris for a photo when it is done.
I don't want to be mean, but Chris isn't great at measuring cord.  Out came the tape measure and she measured off each side of the cushion.  Well what can you expect from someone who keeps their sewing machine in such a filthy state!

Emporium have had some flower displays out, which I think are for the Queen's birthday, which was yesterday.

I wasn't over impressed with this display, which is a form of Ikibana.

Upstairs they had more displays and to be honest, none were exactly a 'wow'. The displays appeared to be linked to the different embassies.

My favourite display has to be these peacocks.  They are just gross.  I suppose it took great skill to make them, but who on earth would want these sitting on their sideboard (hutch to you Americans)?

Of course there were fireworks last night for the birthday celebrations.  I guess I am so used to these displays now, I can barely leave my seat to look out the window.  All celebrations that we could see were by the Oriental.  i thought they used to do them at Queen Sirikit Convention Centre?
Now I know that I am in no position to talk, but just look at the size of this burger that Alan had for lunch yesterday at the Robin Hood.  Even I could not get my mouth around something that big!  He had to eat it in sections!
I woke up really early this morning, and managed to get a picture of a pretty dawn.  This is taken from the studio window.

Right, for those of you who are emailing me with comments because you don't know how to post them, please go to the page marked comments, by clicking on the orange comments tab at the top of the page.

And finally, I now have my own blog, which I hope you will pop over to look at, sign up as a follower (with a photo if you can).  I also want a bit of audience participation in the future, so watch out!  You can find me at It's All About Me!
